Whitney Commits to Yale University

Whitney applied to Yale University in September, 2011 and received the athlete's "likely letter" in early October. Thanks to all who contributed to Whitney's success including college coaches who were interested in recruiting her.

Post Season Honors and Season Stats

Whitney was voted All Greater Miami Conference First Team for the second straight year. She also was voted All Star Div. 1 Team for Underclassmen by the District 15 Coaches Association (Cincinnati and Dayton area), plus Special Mention All Dct. SW Ohio. Congratulations Whitney! Elite 8, Baby!

No one expected the Lakota East Thunderhawks reach the Elite 8 by advancing to the Regional Final game in the Ohio Division 1 State Tournament. Whitney rose to the occasion along with the rest of her team in the tournament as they defeated teams with only one or two losses all season. In the regoinal semi-final against 5th ranked Reynoldsburg, Whitney led the team with 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Just days before she scored 17 points in an overtime win against Fairborn in the District Championship game.

Whitney Scores 24 to Kick Off Season

Whitney and the Lakota East Thunderhawks started their season with a victory against a defensively tough St. Ursula squad. She scored a game-high 24 points, and contributed 5 steals, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Click the title to see the box score.

J. Kyle Braid Leadership Award

Whitney was one of two female students from Lakota East High School who received the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Award. As a result, she attended a week of intensive leadership training along with 42 other student leaders from around the country at the foundation's Colorado ranch in August.
